2026 Finnish Proteomics Symposium

The Finnish Proteomics Society warmly invites you to the upcoming 2026 Finnish Proteomics Symposium, taking place at Hotel Nuuksio in Espoo on March 12-13, 2026. This event brings together proteomics users and those interested in proteomics from Finland, the Nordic countries, and even beyond. We are proud to feature three distinguished keynote speakers who will share their cutting-edge research and innovative methods across diverse areas of proteomics, including human, plant, and microbial systems. Additionally, you will be able to get insights and opportunities from Finnish proteomics core facilities. Whether you’re an expert, a seasoned user, or simply curious about the potential of proteomics, this symposium offers a valuable chance to learn, gain new ideas, present your project, and network in the middle of the stunning surroundings of Nuuksio National Park.

Keynote speakers

Lotta Happonen, Associate Professor
Lund University, SciLifeLab

Lotta Happonen studies host-pathogen interactions and innate immunity using advanced structural and proteomics approaches. Her work aims to uncover immune evasion strategies and identify new therapeutic targets.

Saijaliisa Kangasjärvi, Professor
University of Helsinki

Saijaliisa Kangasjärvi´s Crop Light research group investigates plant light signaling and stress tolerance, focusing on how mitochondrial dysfunction affects disease resistance and vegetable shelf life. Many projects combine phosphoproteomics with targeted tSIM and PRM methods, alongside non-targeted LC-MS metabolomics.

Kirsi Savijoki, Docent
University of Helsinki

Kirsi Savijoki combines molecular microbiology with omics-based techniques (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and immunoproteomics) to study clinically important pathogens like Mycobacterium, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Pseudomonas. She also works on immunoproteomics related to veterinary parasites, aiming to develop diagnostic tests for early disease detection and management. Additionally, her research explores the role of beneficial food microbes in industrial processes and their therapeutic potential.

Preliminary program

The Symposium starts on 12.3.2026 at 11:30 and finishes on 13.3.2026 at 16:00.
